Post Leg Pain
My LO is complaining more and more of pain in his legs when he walks. His strength is diminished in all capacities. Neurologist said pain is from Parkinsons and prescribed Sinemet. It does not seem to have any effect.
Neurologist sent him for nerve study yesterday. Our return appointment is two weeks away (Dr. is on vacation).

Just wondering if anyone else is dealing with leg pain complaints?

Leg pain is very common in PD and all the atypical parkinsonism disorders, such as LBD.

You might do a search of past posts containing the terms "leg pain." For example, see:

This was one of the worst things we had to deal with, and it meant that Dad could no longer walk. You might consider speaking with the MD about baclofen, dantrium, or botox injections. We eventually had to provide narcotics to deal with the pain.

My husband used to have painful leg spasms. He got tizanadine/zanaflex. It worked miracles for him

Thanks, Lorraine. I have noted all the drugs suggested and will ask the neurologist to prescribe something for my spouse.

Just a mention here:
Today I heard an ad for Aricept and one of the side effects could be Leg Muscle Cramps, Just a thought for some that are trying to figure out what is bothering their LO.

Thanks for the info, Irene. Charlie can't take Aricept, it made him psychotic and his extreme reactions prompted the neurologist to change his diagnosis from AD to LBD. It's good for others that do take it to know that Aricept can cause leg pain.

Mother had a lot of problems with leg pain- we now have an on going program with medical massage and accupuncture from a pain management doctor. IT helps with both the rigidity of the muscles and the pain level.

Charlie has not been receptive to physical therapy in the past. However, he wasn't in pain in the past. Now that he isn't walking because it hurts and he is unhappy about not being able to walk he may be willing to try it.
