And the beat goes on...and on...and on...and on! Yes, we all have experienced the symptoms, the ugliness, the bathroom issues, sleepless nightsthe laughter (some of what they do is truly funny)...the insanity LBD brings to your lives...we have walked the path with you and are so sorry you have to be there. All of your posts describe the last 5 years of our life...till it ended...but it never really ends. Our life in Lewyland is one you don't forget quickly. My heart goes out to each one of you. Stay strong, enjoy the good times as those are the ones that will stick with you, try to keep your humor even when you think you cannot go on for one more day, ask for help from family, friends and neighbors and try to remember your LO doesn't want to be the way they are...its LBD invading the person that once was. Keep posting and sharing as it will help you keep your sanity. I pray for a miracle cure so nobody has to experience that dreadful, wicked disease. Big hug for all of you!

chbaird, my Mom is 87 now. She was "diagnosed" as having dementia by an occupational therapist as part of the screening for home health assistance about two years ago. Her doctor, usually very good and a geriatrics specialist, hadn't said anything until she verified the therapist's diagnosis. But she's had symptoms for decades. Tremors started in her 50's. (I'm 56 and I have tremors, which has me worried). I've been concerned about leaving her on her own in public places for at least 10 years and alone at home for the last five. We only got a LBD diagnosis in the last few months, when I took her to see a memory specialist here at the U of Minnesota. It's amazing how Mom hung in there while her daughters were in denial. Oh, and her father was diagnosed with Alzheimer's when he was around 70. Though the doctor said Mom is in the middle to advanced stages of LBD, I'm not seeing a lot of the more significant things that I read about here. The worst I've seen is that she has to have her toast in the morning - not cereal, pancakes, waffles or anything else. It has to be toast. And now there's this mysterious "he" who is telling Mom if she should take her meds or not. So far he agrees that she should, so it's OK. Right now, Mom is so cute - just cute.

 twist ties
My husband is cute sometimes, too, sort of .... this morning he asked (first thing as he was getting out of his lift chair) where the twist ties were? I had no response nor did I have a clue what he was talking about so I said, no I don't have the twist ties and I asked if he needed them... he said well now that is the question isn't it......... I had no ideas what to say to that..... Things like that sort of throw me into a place where my left eye starts to twitch and I start walking into walls......... Later in the morning I asked if he figured out why he needed twist ties and he said no and asked if I had them... soooooooooooo.... I dropped the subject and will try to avoid asking about twist ties for the day. Cheryl

 question regarding this site
I can't switch forums. When I select a different forum it just sits and doesn't switch. and I want to ask if women get LBD and don't know where to do it
Also, I want to receive the LBD magazine and can't seem go get my computer to do what I need to do to receive this publication.
Also, I can't enter the chat room, I get an "error" page...
does having an Apple computer make a difference? Sorry, don't know how to handle this even after reading the FAQ and information provided. I really am usually pretty good at this... but apparently not good enough! Thanks for help CHBaird

 poll
is there a way to do a poll - spreadsheet sort of thing where we could fill in date of diagnosis,,, symptoms... all sorts of things.... and not put in too much personal info to protect privacy of those who wish to remain more private... Any information that might be helpful to some researcher somewhere or some doctor.... there don't seem to be too many of us out here with this disease!!!!!! maybe our compiled information would be helpful to someone - maybe even to each other.... what do you guys think>>>> maybe someone else is doing this and I just don't know?????

Cheryl,
I do hope you can figure out how to post these questions in new topics. When you go here http://community.lbda.org/forum/index.php, you should be able to click onto any of the sub-categories. After you are in a sub-category, you click on the NEW TOPIC button. Voila.
Perhaps get someone who is more knowledgeable about computers to help you as you have listed at least three computer-related issues. There's no one here who can help you with tech support.

Cheryl, a lot of forums have poll mechanisms for their members and I think it's a great idea. Just checking off a list of symptoms would yield a wealth of information. --Pat

I work in technology but am not a webmaster. I might be able to ask for a quick lesson, though.
Cheryl, women do get LBD but only a few remember how to do it.
